Property formation

The department of land use also provides extracts from a property database encompassing all of Finland. It includes property register data, registration of title data and certificates of easement.

The plots are given codes, which consist of the numbers of the district, block and plot in the town plan area. Other information recorded in the property register includes the plot’s surface area, date of registration, easements, shares of common areas and other plot-related information. The plots are not given names, unlike properties in unplanned areas.

The property register is public and everybody has the right to access its information. Upon request, the property register provides extracts from across the entire nation.
