Higher education studies
In Raahe, you can complete an entire Bachelor's degree or complete some higher education studies as part of your vocational upper secondary qualification. Open university studies are provided by the Summer University.
Completion of a university of applied sciences degree in Raahe
Bachelor's degree programmes have been available in Raahe since 2018 at the Kajaani University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with the Brahe Education Centre and Pohde, the Wellbeing Services County of North Ostrobothnia (former joint municipal authority for wellbeing). Studies are organised as both daytime and blended studies. There are a total of about 250 higher education students in Raahe.
As a rule, students apply for the degree programmes in mid-March in the second joint application period for universities of applied sciences, and studies will begin in the autumn. If not all the study places are filled or applicants do not accept their places, applicants can apply again in an additional application round in the autumn.
Degree programmes launched in Raahe include:
- Bachelor of Engineering, Information Technology

- Bachelor of Engineering, Civil Engineering
- Bachelor of Information Technology (gaming industry)
- Bachelor of Nursing

Path studies to universities to applied sciences
Higher education studies can be completed at all Raahe upper secondary educational institutions during one’s studies according to the range of studies offered by each partner. The studies are recognised as part of the student’s degree, and they can be used to obtain a direct place in further studies at a university of applied sciences without entrance examinations. Open university studies
The Raahe unit for the Summer University of North Ostrobothnia offers open university studies, vocational continuing education, preparatory and hobby courses and various public events. A large part of instruction is available online, which enables taking part in studies regardless of location. The summer university also accepts wishes for courses.

Multicampus model and the Raahe region's higher education team
The multicampus model led by the Brahe Education Centre, which has gathered national attention and praise, meets the business world’s need for experts by combining existing learning environments with secondary and higher education studies.
The education centre also heads a higher education team in which the city and education provider as well as the region’s largest employers and other business operators are represented. Together we ensure that studies meet the needs of companies and that we can react swiftly to changes in the operating environment.
